Apple Pay launches: Here's how to use it

Apple Pay launches: Here's how to use it

SAN FRANCISCO - For years, companies have been talking about replacing credit cards with smart phones to pay for goods. But consumers have been slow to the game.

That could change today, when Apple introduced the Apple program pays an audience of more than 10 million iPhone owners 6 and 6 Plus.

Pay Apple will also work with the new iPads Company - Mini air 2 and 3, which will be released on Friday - but only for in-app purchases. To pay in stores, you will need new phones.

Left out is the network of more than 500 million iPhones sold since 2007, but Apple does not care - they want to sell new phones and tablets, and expects its new mobile payments system will get consumers excited to update.

The iconic company has more than 220,000 outlets that accept payment in the new iPhones. Major payment networks Visa, MasterCard and American Express and more than 500 banks are on board. Retailers include biggies like McDonald, Macy, Chevron gas stations, Walgreens and Panera Bread.

Apple touts ease of use:

Instead of rummaging through a portfolio of credit card, simply pull the phone or tablet. There are also safety - no second hand as waiters, valets or other parties have access to your credit card information.

How to get started with Apple Pay?

• Update to iOS8.1, the new version of Apple's mobile operating system, through the Software Update tab in the Settings section of your iPhone. Today's update will allow new phones running Apple Pay.

• On iPad or iPhone, Passbook open the application so far little used-which first debuted in 2013 to store tickets, coupons and the like. You can add your credit card or debit card info to the application iTunes using the camera on the Apple device, and scan your card.

• Look for a retailer that works with Apple pays to take a chance on the iPhone 6.

More than 220,000 points of sale applications such as Airbnb, Groupon, and Uber Lyft are also working with Apple on their applications to accept payment over the phone and tablet.

• To pay, hold the fingerprint sensor TouchID the Apple device and point it at the Apple reader Pay. At home with the iPad, just use your fingerprint instead of a password.

What if your phone or tablet is lost? Do all your banking and credit information go with it? Not if you're quick to act.

Apple promotes the use of the Find My iPhone app, where from a computer you can put the device in mode "lost" and stop Apple Pay.

Apple consumers tend to be as big fans of the company often tip and try new offerings in the early days - and inevitably pop-up errors and Apple has to fight to make quick fixes.

So people should he even bother trying to pay when Apple launches?

The veteran Apple analyst Tim Bajarin of Creative Strategies thinks it's a safe bet to give it a shot.

"I do not think Apple could release this case the issue of privacy and security was not strong," he says. "However, there may be errors in the terminal point of sales during the initial start, though NFC-based terminals have worked pretty smoothly so far."

And while the network of 10 million new users of Apple iPhone is a sliver of its total $ 500 million, the largest audience iPhone, Bajarin thinks the public will grow significantly before the end of the year.

It is estimated that Apple, which Apple is launching Pay only in the USA to date, has sold 60 million new iPhone 6 and 6 Advantages for the end of the year. Half of all new sales will be in the USA, and "would mean that about 30 million of these phones based on NFC be able to use Apple pay this year," says Bajarin.

How to use an Android device as a sat nav Without WiFi

How to use an Android device as a sat nav Without WiFi

Remember when we used to use maps to get places? Now we have a little electronic voice that tells us where to go, getting lost is not as fun as it used to be and have replaced arguing over who said we should turn left at the traffic lights and replaced it with patience waiting for the box "recalculate" disappears.

If you have not started in the world of satellite navigation, and you own an Android device, do you think you could use your phone or tablet as a GPS knew no extra cost? Even if you know where you are going in life, it is still useful to have a little voice assuring you that you are on the right track.

Did you also know you do not need WiFi to use your Android device for satellite navigation? The Global Positioning System (GPS) that leaves your Android device knows where you are, anywhere in the world, works through direct communication with a satellite way up there in space. It has nothing to do with your Wi-Fi; It is a completely different animal. It actually requires at least four satellites to provide information about the exact location but as long as you can see the sky, you should be fine. Do not use GPS for Android caving.

What is needed is access to download maps that allow your SatNav calculate where to drive, but you can eliminate the need for this just make sure you have all the necessary maps already downloaded before starting your trip. This does not mean that downloading individual towns or cities, usually, you can download an entire country at a time, and so unless you're participating in the Gumball Rally, a map should be sufficient.

A series of free applications are available in SatNav Play Store me help you out also providing free downloads of maps. As with all these things, some are better than others, but the options that might suit you better than another so try a few out. The ones I've found helpful, with maps of the United Kingdom for free and a good user interface and are Navfree MapFactor but the choice is amazing, just search for "free SatNav" on Play Store.

If nothing else, improve your relationships, as you can now blame your Android device to get lost and not the other.

iPhone vs 7 6S Plus: release date, price, compatibility Apple Watch

iPhone vs 7 6S Plus: release date, price, compatibility Apple Watch

It is to iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 7, at least in the minds of those who skipped the launch last month and are now focused on the next big thing from Apple. Several users took a pass on the iPhone 6, as yet to be updated-right, or because they could not afford it or one of several other reasons, and users are looking at what comes next. But just what model (s) of the next Apple iPhone will be launched? What will it cost, and when its release date to arrive? And

how is Apple Watch affecting its release?

The first question may be the most difficult. The story says that Apple will move to the next iPhone 6S, as it has a habit of making a model "S" every two years, effectively keeping each generation iPhone around for the benefit of those who are within two years of renovation cycles with their carriers. But a series of recent changes suggest that Apple may be reconsidering that plan, from changes in naming conventions to more belated interest in fighting movements direct competitors like Samsung. That means that Apple could move to iPhone 7 below, and keep the iPhone 6 as the model around at a discounted price. Whatever the new iPhone model that follows, we hope to continue at $ 199 for the standard model, $ 299 for the Plus model.

If Apple goes with an iPhone 7 vs. 6 below, which will be fully compatible with the Apple clock from day one. Apple has already made clear that all models of the iPhone 5 will support forward. But those who wait for the next iPhone will have to wait some time. While the clock Apple could come as early as the spring of 2015, the release date for the next generation iPhone will not arrive until the fall of next year. If the iPhone 6S arrives in 2015, the iPhone will arrive in July 2016.

The Evil Within Xbox One

For a game about the dangers of brain invasion, the evil within is not above some mind-Messing own.

Implementation of the classic tune Clair de lune when your hero reaches a save point creates a Pavlovian response. Tinkling ivories means security in a world to kill you. No tinkling ivories? Better try to keep your organs inside your body a little more. Eventually the mind plays tricks: think hearing the first bars in the wind; Turns out it's the jingle restrictions brandishing a chainsaw maniac.

This is not a new trick Shinji Mikami - think typewriters rooms soothing Resident Evil - but walking through a dark unknown. Mikami graduates from fearsome reptile ghost to a suffocating oppression house. A deep darkness makes it hard to see more than a few meters ahead. The flashlight on the belt often blind to their lens flare or glare makes you look wobbly nonexistent monsters in shadows. Even the aspect ratio is against you; thick black bars 2.35: 1 violate sight like a roof that descends into one of the many deadly traps of the game.

The Evil Within Xbox One

Of course, this is survival horror developers pushing their luck, seeing how much he can not prevent inciting hatred. The Evil Within really going for it. How's this for an opening tutorial: a policeman, and limping unarmed, against a demonic butcher. Few games have the guts to carry it out and even fewer have the gut-rendering technology to make your attacks macabre justice. You learn and learn fast: to distract throwing bottles hidden in the cupboards and use of meters painfully short sprint Sebastian Castellanos' to your advantage.

It is interesting to play this so soon after Alien: Isolation. That predator game AI was a reaction to the more linear horror Japan. No room for both approaches in the world. The exhaust is much cleaner in Evil Within - break line of sight and hop in a closet and you're safe - but can still create extreme panic as you try to escape the unwinnable battles. A prominent sequence looks relatively easy fetch quests randomly interrupted by a man who can not be killed and can kill with a touch. It was frightening in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and is scary here.

Fleeing from attackers is only a small part of the game. Most played as the sequel Resident Evil 4 that we never had. Survive the first stressful time and you get a gun, and some demonic ghost town hicks. Aim the sights in the first head you see, pull the trigger and the resulting silencer - think someone throwing a brick into a watermelon - it's enough to say that the teacher is back. With so little ammunition, Mikami can do every bullet feels like an event. Nail the perfect shot and waterfalls pump blood on his clothes and drip Castellanos.

The Evil Within Xbox One

Geysers and neck pump higher, so the scope of the action reaches a little further. The sneak Castellanos serving so well in the cowardly can be woven in battle to attract the villagers in their own traps or deliver fatal stab wounds to the head. And the choice of sacrificing the bodies largely fallen enemies to stop standing back up, can be programmed to turn on nearby threats, becoming a potential corpse firebomb. Throw in the arrows 'Agony Bolts' plant explosives or electrical traps and strategic options branch into endless forms of entertainment.

And as Resi 4 is rarely repeated. A level starts with a siege (echoes of sublime moment 4 cottage), moves in challenging sniping against a medieval pitchers harpoons, take a quick detour to stop execution and, twenty minutes - and two dead ogres - later, somehow ends up with a fight against a giant zombie mutt. And this is one hour of 18, many of whom have the same volume of ideas. Not all hours are equal - a parking configuration boss killed us 20 times in a row with cheap viciously attacks - but most are nice.

It has no clear sense of a journey of Resident Evil 4, though. Creeping madness justifies a story that drags our hero between locations on a whim and bombard us with crazy effects trite. Memo to the games industry: broken minds do not begin and end with shaky camera angles and a red filter. Half the time you have no idea what you're actually battling it. To feel so powerless in the grand scheme of things, when the rest of the game is about courageously battling for control from moment to moment seems slightly miscalculated.

It's almost as if the evil within can not reconcile his desire to put through the wringer with Mikami impeccable eye for building a survivor. Being stuck in the gas chamber with an invincible murderer gets the pulse racing, sure, but give us an army of soft heads, you pulpable any day. Not that the former is bad, it's just that the latter is so good, good Resident Evil 4, you can not stop forwarding a bit distracting. As much as Clair de lune triggers a Pavlovian response, these heads do the same: see one, shoot one and know that Shinji Mikami is back.

How Apple Gets New iPhones Do you buy over and over again

How Apple Gets New iPhones Do you buy over and over again

Ever wondered why your iPhone seems to slow down after a few years? Why the once-incredible device becomes moody and strives to perform tasks or applications baseload?

The answer lies in Apple's software, and is a key part of the strategy of the company to keep millions of people who buy new iPhones.

Apple launches new mobile operating system each year, and maintains a powerful cycle in motion. Every fall in recent years, people have rushed to download the latest and greatest version of iOS, which is designed to - and as a result, works best - the latest hardware that is also released at the same time. In the months leading up to the release, many application developers furiously updated their applications to the latest operating system.

Here's how it affects you: If you have an iPhone that is more than two years, as Apple recommends you update the operating system a few times since purchase, you may find yourself wanting to throw your phone against wall. It has probably become slow and meticulous.

For many, the solution is simply to buy a new iPhone.

It is very unlikely Apple deliberately slowing older iPhones only for you to upgrade. The company declined to comment for this article. Instead, Apple designed the new operating systems, which have more features, take up more space and require more computing power for new iPhones. And one consequence of this is that do not work as well on older iPhones.

The system has been quite successful for Apple. iPhone users in the USA tend to pay a lot for a new iPhone every two years or so (which, not coincidentally, is also the traditional wireless contract duration.)

But with its latest update to iOS 8 Apple hit a few bumps.

Last month, the company made the rare move of pulling updating the operating system after some people reported they left their phone can not make calls and fingerprint sensors useless. Although Apple said the bugsonly affected a small number of people, and the company soon released a fix, the episode led to an avalanche of negative publicity. That, along with the whopping five gigabytes of valuable storage space required to download the update wirelessly, seems to have made people shy away from downloading the new operating system in bulk. Apple fans are embracing the new operating system much more slowly than iOS adopted 7 the previous version.

Still, many people rushed to download iOS 8 in the early days it was available.

Justen Meyer, 33 years old working in the professional sports industry in St. Louis, was one of those people. He regrets update your iPhone 4S, it says it is now "slow".

"It's horrible. My apps do not work. Twitter will not open," he said in a recent interview.

Before the upgrade, the phone was "perfect," he said. "I was completely happy. Now it's making me wonder if I'll go through it the next time I have a new phone."

Meyer is not alone. People complain about their iPhones feeling slow after new iPhones and operating systems out is nothing new. Catherine Rampell wrote in The New York Times last year that his iPhone 4 felt "much weaker" after the 5S and 5C were released. Sendhil Mullainathan, an economics professor at Harvard, said in another Times article this summer that Google searches in the USA for "iPhone Slow" peak when each new iPhone is released.

Part of that could be due to many people download the new operating system at the same time, iMore Editor in Chief Rene Ritchie said earlier this year. Apple launches its new OS to everyone at the same time, while Android updates hit different phones at different times. (This is one reason why the operating system Android is so fragmented. - Only a quarter of Android owners are on the latest version of the operating system)

iPhone models that are one year old - the next-generation - tend to be good when they are updated to the latest version of the operating system, said Mike Gikas, who as editor of the leading electronics Consumer Reports reported on the testing of every iPhone that has come out.

Are the oldest starting to lag, Gikas said.

"We know that the phone becomes old, the applications seem to be slow and some of the capacities are reduced," he said.

In fact, Twitter is full of people complaining about their phones after downloading iOS slowdown in August.

The new software has slowed from old hardware before Jamming CD-Roms in our Gateway 2000 What is different with the iPhone is the huge range of third-party software that runs on phones. Apple has 1.3 million applications in its App Store. And for those applications to remain relevant and continue to work, developers have to update to work with the latest software and hardware from Apple.

Apple aggressively pushing developers to design applications that run on the latest operating system, said John Poole, founder ofPrimate Labs, a Toronto-based company that makes applications for measuring the speed of smart phones.

"Apple encourages developers to run the latest version of iOS, providing tools and APIs that only support the latest version of iOS," Poole wrote in an email to The Huffington Post. "For example, it is difficult to write an application that is compatible with both iOS screen sizes 7 and the new iPhones."

Poole added that much publicity machine that is Apple's App Store currently promoting applications and games for iOS 8 which provides incentive for developers to design for the latest and greatest.

Of course, Apple wants to develop its software, too, and is not looking back to make sure older versions of the iPhone works seamlessly with the new versions of iOS. For Apple remains the leader in the highly competitive smartphone game, you need to innovate and focus on optimizing the experience of people with newer products.

"Apple faces this choice: Do they create an operating system that works well on older devices, or create an operating system that leverages the latest hardware?" Poole said. "Apple's approach has been to make an operating system that requires taking advantage of the latest phones instead of an operating system that will work well on older phones."

And therein lies the dilemma - or, if you are Apple, Genius: Do you want to download latest software from Apple and that's what developers are developing applications, and comes with new features and important security fixes. But if your phone over a year old, you can slow down.

Christopher Mims, a former editor of technology and science is now quartz technology columnist for The Wall Street Journal, has been using Apple products for over 20 years. Quartz In a story last year, Mims explained how he has found a way to get more time away from an iPhone over: He simply chose not to download the latest version of the operating system.

"Except for small incremental changes, not upgrade the operating system of hardware you are using," he wrote. "Especially if you currently do the job."

Mims now has an iPhone 5S, flagship phone last year. And he has no plans to download iOS August.

"The only time you should [upgrade your operating system] is when applications stop working and require reviews upgrade to the new operating system," said Mims HuffPost via Twitter. "Apple has always been so. It was true with the Mac, is now true with iPhones. Incremental updates are fine. Updates But integers? Not just. You get them when you get a new phone."

The absence of PS Plus game free play list in October, explained by the developer

The absence of PS Plus game free play list in October

Sorry, fans of racing games and PlayStation Plus subscribers, the promised test version of Evolution Study "Driveclub" did not put up with the rest of the free games this week.

According to Game Informer, "Driveclub" was released in the USA October 7, but unfortunately it came at a bad start.

Players who have downloaded the game complained that they were having connection problems online. The developer addressed the problem immediately, advising players to avoid elimination after reinstalling the game. Evolution Studios promised to investigate the issue of server informed and assured the players who are already doing their best to solve the problem.

This dilemma affects the release of the free trial version of the game in PlayStation Plus. Subscribers are waiting to download the game this October with other free titles as "Dust: An Elysian Tail" and "Spelunky" for PlayStation 4.

The developer issued a lengthy statement to explain the absence of the game in the list of free games this month PS Plus.

The statement reads:

Plus PS To our fans, we felt they are having to wait longer to play, but want to ensure that when you come on board, the best experience is obtained. Rest assured, if you have pre-ordered the full game update PS Plus Edition, you will still receive the full version of DRIVECLUB digitally, and if you can not get online you will be able to start working as a whole more with the world offline single player mode as you DRIVECLUB tour begins. You will still be able to gain fame, unlock cars and get to grips with all the options to play and create their own events and challenges - and everything you do will be synchronized with the server when you get connected, so you can set-up one plenty of challenges to send to friends as soon as you are able to join together online.

We fully appreciate how frustrating it is for everyone. We want you to get online with your club for racing, challenging, and fun together is what the game is about. We know that racing online with friends is what you've been waiting for and is doing everything possible to provide that experience for you as soon as possible.

Driveclub received mixed reviews after its release exclusively for PlayStation 4 earlier this month. The Independent said that the game offers beautiful scenery along the way, but the race itself lacks challenge. The report also said that it is quite easy to win the game, as long as the players know how to hit the right buttons at the right time.

Other reviews have mentioned that Evolution Studios did not keep his promise to create a revolutionary racing game that the players had never experienced before. It seems to disappoint a number of fans with how the game was highly anticipated.

For those who do not have PlayStation Plus, but still want to buy "DriveClub" which has a standard price of $ 59.99.

New Apple iPad case scheduled for October 16

New Apple iPad case scheduled

Apple has sent out invitations for a special event on 16 October, where the company is almost certain to submit updates this year air the iPad and the iPad Mini. The event, held on the campus of Apple in a much smaller than the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Launch place, probably also include some updates to other Apple product lines, such as the iMac and Apple TV. There is a remote possibility that we will see something new and crazy on October 16, and a TV, but I think it is unlikely, given recent debut of Apple clock.
new iPads

Top Menu October 18 event is a new Apple iPad and iPad Mini with Retina Display Air. There is a rather persistent rumor that the next iPad Air - call it the iPad Air 2 if you like, or perhaps the Air Plus iPad - will feature a 12.9-inch screen. As with the iPhone 6, several sites have published leaked photos of what appears to be an iPad thinner air, lighter, and bigger.

It is unclear what Apple will do with the iPad Mini with Retina display, but is supposed to get thinner and lighter. No word on whether there will be a 9.7-inch version of the iPad 2 with Air Plus 5.5 iPhone 6 inches, it is arguable that the 7.9-inch iPad Mini makes a lot of sense - but we'll have to wait and see what Apple has on 16 October.

A new iMac with Retina display, updated Mac Mini and Apple TV?

Apple should also reveal some other product updates at the event on October 16. We can only guess what these products really could be - but a new 27-inch iMac with Retina (5120 × 2800) display is possible. Teasing invitation "was too long" may indicate that the event will focus primarily on products that have not been updated in a while - Apple TV, the Mac Mini and iPod Nano are overdue an update. Or maybe Apple is just being sarcastic, considering it was a great event just a couple of weeks ago to launch the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

The current Mac Mini was released way back in 2012

We could also see a MacBook Air with Retina display, or even a brand new product. Using the invitation of the original colors of the rainbow Apple could indicate that there will be a lot of things related to the Mac at the event - or maybe just stayed at my desk for too long now and I'm starting to see patterns where there are no none.

In any case, we're going to have some reporters at the Apple event in Cupertino on October 16, and we'll be live blogging here at ExtremeTech. Stay tuned!

If you have been using your Android phone and Google account (Gmail, Google Play, etc) for any period of time it is likely that all your contacts will be associated with your Google account. At least you use most often should be.

So make sure you have a copy of your Android phone. Go to Settings on your Android phone and select "Accounts & sync" or similar. Enter your Gmail account and enable syncing. Your phone contacts and Google contacts should now sync.

First save all contacts from Android phone to your SIM. Then insert the SIM card into your iPhone, being careful not to lose the iPhone SIM. Finally, go to Settings and select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and click "Import SIM Contacts". When the operation is finished, you can replace the iPhone SIM card with the original card.

Android Apps transfer to iPhone

There is no easy way around this. If you have to pay for an app on Google Play, you will most likely have to pay to buy back into iTunes. That's the bad news, the good news is that in almost all cases the application you like to use in Android is available on iTunes, and access data using which will work in the other. This means that any content or service acquired through its Android app will probably be accessible on your iPhone. So once you have started using your iPhone, just sign on the iTunes app store, and start searching for those applications that you like.

Transfer photos and videos from Android to iPhone

There are a few simple ways to do it. The first involves the installation of an application of data transfer. Then it is easy enough to install your chosen both the Android and iPhone app, and you will be guided through moving files from one to the other.

The other way to move photos from Android to iPhone is the use of a computer with iTunes. Just find the photos and videos on your Android phone, move them to your computer, sync to iTunes, and then sync the iPhone with iTunes again. A similar process works for music, as we will describe below.

To transfer photos from Android to iPhone, simply connect your Android phone to your PC or Mac. Choose the photos and videos you want to move, and drag them to a folder on your computer. For simplicity I would create a new folder on your desktop called ... 'Photos for transfer.

Now connect your iPhone to your PC or Mac, open iTunes and click on your iPhone. Click on the photos, select "Sync photos from" checkbox and select the folder where you saved your photos. Click Apply and photos are synced to your iPhone.

It should be very simple to transfer anyThe critical stage here is a backup of Android to a PC or Mac. Because most Android devices can be mounted and used as external storage, this can be as simple as drag all music files from the folder structure of Android phone mounted, and put them into the music folder on your PC or Mac.

Now install and open iTunes on your computer. Go to Library, and then click Music. Open the folder where you put your music files, and drag them to the iTunes Music view.

Now connect your iPhone, click on the iPhone, and then click Music. You can choose to sync your entire library, or select only the songs or artists that you just added. Then click Sync and the songs will be added to your iPhone.

(Or just do not worry about owning the music and use of Spotify.)
