Ubisoft teases Rainbow Six Siege 'Around The World' Battle Pass

Rainbow Six Siege readies its second full-fledged Battle Pass, this time doubling down on its narrative edge.

What you need to know

  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege's new season, Operation Void Edge, is now available.
  • Ubisoft has teased its second Battle Pass for the weeks ahead, titled "Around The World."
  • The Around The World Battle Pass explores backgrounds of several Operators, packed with 35 tiers of limited-time cosmetics and rewards.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege has received the Operation Void Edge update on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, marking the start of Year 5 content plans. The latest seasonal refresh couples with new playable personas Oryx and Iana, each bringing new abilities to attack and defense, alongside the rustic rework for the Oregon map. Ubisoft has accompanied its release with a brief one-minute trailer, confirming the second full-fledged Battle Pass on track for the weeks ahead.

The next Rainbow Six Battle Pass is titled "Around The World," exploring the diverse heritage of select Operators, tied into the returning 35-tier progression system available in-game. As with the inaugural "Road to S.I. 2020" Battle Pass, Around The World will feature 50 themed cosmetics, obtained by earning points and completing challenges to level up through the ranks. The Free and Premium tiers also return, splitting content across a broadly available track, or a $10 entry fee.

Looking at the future of Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege Battle Pass

Rainbow Six Siege product director, Roy Del Valle, discussed Ubisoft's Battle Pass plans with Windows Central, including the new narrative avenue its presents. As the artwork suggests, Around The World will feature a selection of anime shorts, providing additional background on Operators and the Rainbow Six unit. The Battle Pass appears to feature cosmetics for Ash, Buck, Castle, Dokkaebi, and Valkyrie, likely once again accompanied by charms, packs, and boosters.

The Around The World Battle Pass will be free to all players and costing 1,200 R6 Credits to upgrade to the Premium track. Year 5 Pass owners will also obtain a 40 percent discount on the purchase, cutting the investment down to just 720 R6 Credits.

In the meantime, Rainbow Six Siege Operation Void Edge is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. However, for access to new Operators Oryx and Iana today, you'll need the new Year 5 Pass.

The hidden cost of food delivery

More posts by this contributor What Studying Students Teaches Us About Great Apps I’ll admit it: When it comes to food, I’m lazy. There are dozens of great dining options within a few blocks of my home, yet I still end up ordering food through delivery apps four or five times per week. With the growing coronavirus pandemic closing restaurants and consumers self-isolating, it is likely we will see a spike in food delivery much like the 20% jump China reported during the peak of its crisis. With the food delivery sector rocketing toward a projected $365 billion by the end of the decade, I’m clearly not the only one turning to delivery apps even before the pandemic hit. Thanks to technology (and VC funding) we can get a ri

Slack’s new integration deal with AWS could also be about tweaking Microsoft

Slack and Amazon announced a big integration late yesterday afternoon. As part of the deal, Slack will use Amazon Chime for its call feature, while reiterating its commitment to use AWS as its preferred cloud provider to run its infrastructure. At the same time, AWS has agreed to use Slack for internal communications. Make no mistake, this is a big deal as the SaaS communications tool increases its ties with AWS, but this agreement could also be about slighting Microsoft and its rival Teams product by making a deal with a cloud rival. In the past Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield has had choice words for Microsoft saying the Redmond technology giant sees his company as an “existential threat.” Whether that’s true or not — Teams is but one piece of a huge technology company — it’s impossible not to look at the deal in this context. Aligning more deeply with AWS sends a message to Microsoft, whose Azure infrastructure services compete with AWS. Butterfield didn’t say that of course
