Pokemon Unite for Android: Everything you need to know

It's time to unite!

The world of Pokémon is no stranger to spin-off games, as many have been released in the franchises 25 year history. With games like Pokémon GO already taking the world by storm, The Pokémon Company is ready to introduce a new contender into the ring form of Pokémon UNITE. Announced in mid-2020's Pokémon Direct, UNITE is a multiplayer strategy game that tasks players with using a variety of Pokémon to take down opponents and level up.

Here's everything we know about Pokémon UNITE on Android.

What is Pokémon UNITE?

Pokémon UNITE is an upcoming strategic MOBA team battle game developed by both The Pokémon Company and Tencent Games TiMi Studios. Pokémon UNITE will have players facing off against one another in 5-on-5 team battles. During these battles, players will continue to cooperate with their teammates in order to catch wild Pokémon, all while leveling up and evolving their own Pokémon in the process.

What is Pokémon UNITE's gameplay like?

Gameplay wise, Pokémon UNITE seems to play similar to MOBAs like Arena of Valor or League of Legends, with players having to keep watch on the battles happening between your Pokémon and also managing how to plan for the future by catching more.

It's unknown if there's a deeper layer to the game at the moment, but it wouldn't be shocking to see some other mechanics come into play once the full game launches.

Which Pokémon are in Pokémon UNITE?

It's currently unknown just how many Pokémon will be featured in Pokémon UNITE. According to recent updates from The Pokémon Company, though, it seems like players can look forward to many of their favorites appearing in the game. So far, the following Pokémon have been confirmed to appear in Pokémon UNITE:

  • Blastoise
  • Venasaur
  • Lucario
  • Gengar
  • Machamp
  • Snorlax
  • Pikachu
  • Clefable
  • Charizard
  • Talonflame

While there are only 10 confirmed Pokémon so far in the game, fans have spotted others through various leaks and other brief looks at gameplay. Considering the fact that there are nearly 900 Pokémon in existence, they should have absolutely no trouble in finding more to include should they want to.

What platforms is Pokémon UNITE available on?

Pokémon UNITE will be available for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch when it launches. It's unclear if any other platforms will be getting access to the game.

Will Pokémon UNITE support cross-play?

Yes. According to Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa during a recent financial briefing Q&A session, players on Android, iOS, or the Nintendo Switch will all be able to play with one another.

Is there a Pokémon UNITE beta?

According to a recent development update from The Pokémon Company, a beta test for Pokémon UNITE will be taking place sometime in March for Canadian Android users only.

Android users must be a resident of Canada and over the age of 16 to participate in the beta, and any progress made in-game during the beta will be reset once the beta is completed.

When does Pokémon UNITE release?

Currently, there is no information on when Pokémon UNITE will be released. However, because it is the 25th anniversary of Pokémon, and with more news on various Pokémon titles and properties coming this year, it wouldn't be too shocking to see more information come sooner rather than later.

There are dozens of great dining options within a few blocks of my home, yet I still end up ordering food through delivery apps four or five times per week. With the growing coronavirus pandemic closing restaurants and consumers self-isolating, it is likely we will see a spike in food delivery much like the 20% jump China reported during the peak of its crisis. With the food delivery sector rocketing toward a projected $365 billion by the end of the decade, I’m clearly not the only one turning to delivery apps even before the pandemic hit. Slack’s new integration deal with AWS could also be about tweaking Microsoft

Slack and Amazon announced a big integration late yesterday afternoon. As part of the deal, Slack will use Amazon Chime for its call feature, while reiterating its commitment to use AWS as its preferred cloud provider to run its infrastructure. At the same time, AWS has agreed to use Slack for internal communications. Make no mistake, this is a big deal as the SaaS communications tool increases its ties with AWS, but this agreement could also be about slighting Microsoft and its rival Teams product by making a deal with a cloud rival. In the past Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield has had choice words for Microsoft saying the Redmond technology giant sees his company as an “existential threat.” Whether that’s true or not — Teams is but one piece of a huge technology company — it’s impossible not to look at the deal in this context. Aligning more deeply with AWS sends a message to Microsoft, whose Azure infrastructure services compete with AWS. Butterfield didn’t say that of course
