Review: The TicWatch E3 is a great Wear OS watch with a looming question

As only the second watch to run the Snapdragon 4100, the TicWatch E3 is one to watch. For fans of Google's wearable platform, Wear OS, we're in a bit of limbo right now — which is why putting together a TicWatch E3 review puts me in a bit of a pickle. While we know that Google and Samsung are partnering to rebuild Wear OS , we don't know if any existing Wear OS watches will get the update. Fossil has said that it doesn't plan to upgrade current watches , and there has been some confusion as to whether one of the best Android smartwatches available will be upgraded or not — see what I mean? It's a pickle. Traditionally the line of E devices from Mobvoi has been in the realm of entry-level smartwatches due to the barebones design and hardware used to get the price down. Interestingly though, the TicWatch E3, while still offering a very understated design, is one of two smartwatches on the market that is running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100 processor — the other

Samsung’s Wear OS-powered Galaxy Watch 4 may not have a charger in the box

In China, the smartwatch will ship with just a 5W wireless charger in the box. What you need to know Samsung's Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 have been certified by China's 3C certification authority. Both models will come with 5W wireless chargers in the box, but a charging adapter won't be included. The Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 are expected to be announced at Samsung's next Unpacked event in August. Last month, Samsung confirmed that it is ditching its Tizen OS in favor of Google's Wear OS for its future Galaxy smartwatches. While Samsung hasn't revealed any details about its upcoming Wear OS smartwatches yet, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 have now passed through China's 3C certification process (via MyFixGuide ) . The 3C certification reveals all variants of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 will have a 5W wireless charger in the box. Surprisingly, however, they may not come with a charging ada

With Wear OS set, Google better not forget about my beloved Fitbit tracker

Please, give me a Fitbit Charge 4 refresh that "just works." We all know that Google is in the midst of a huge shakeup of its wearable ecosystem . Wear OS has continued to underperform when it comes to sales, the company recently acquired Fitbit , and a completely new platform is coming with a new generation of chips to power it. That's great news for the future, but not so great news if you're in the market right now. And that's me. Well, my wife, actually. Her doctor thinks she needs to start monitoring things like calories, exercise, heart rate, and her weight because of an unexpected weight loss. Couple in the fact that she's wrapped up in the tentacles of the Google Android ecosystem (not a bad thing, but still a total lock-in) Google Fit is the logical answer . I thought this would be easier than it is. She has a nice Withings scale that does exactly what she wants. She also has a Mi Band 4 that she loves, but it doesn't really do what she wants
