iPhone Feature Request: Copy ‘Skip Lock Screen’ feature from Google’s Pixel 4

Face Unlock on Google’s Pixel 4 is less secure than the iPhone’s Face ID, but it does have one feature I’d like to see Apple copy: Skip Lock Screen.

Copying that would be perfectly fair, as Google has recently confirmed that it will be copying at least part of Face ID’s Require Attention feature…

The Pixel 4 will copy Require AttentionLike Apple’s iPhone X, XS, and 11, Google’s new flagship Pixel 4 smartphone can unlock by recognizing your face. However, the company quickly came under fire when it was revealed that the device can be unlocked even when the owner is asleep, simply by someone else holding it up to their face.

With iPhones, there is a Requires Attention toggle. When this is on, your iPhone will only unlock if your eyes are open and you are actually looking at the screen. Google has now said that it plans to copy at least the first part of this requirement.

Google this evening confirmed to The Verge that it’s “been working on an option for users to require their eyes to be ope…

Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ beats iPhone X in speed test

buy Samsung Galaxy S9+ Unlocked Smartphone - Midnight Black - US Warranty

Apple’s iPhone X loses to Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ in speed test
The love-hate relationship between arch rivals, Apple and Samsung is known to everyone. Whenever one tech giant launches a smartphone, many of us wait for the other one to come up with a better one.

While Apple launched its premium flagship smartphone, iPhone X in November 2017, everyone was eagerly waiting for Samsung to launch its high-end smartphones, Galaxy S9 and S9+, which it did recently. So, who is the winner???

Although, Galaxy S9+ that is powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC is certainly faster than any Android phone but it cannot outperform the A11 bionic-powered iPhone from Apple, the iPhone X. However, in a speed test video put together by YouTube channel EverythingApplePro, the iPhone X has lost out to Galaxy S9+ purely in terms of performance.

Here’s how to fix in iOS 11 Cannot connect to App Store error issue on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device.

With that said, as good as iOS 11 is and feels, it still has a number of niggles, such as the annoying “Cannot connect to App Store” error message being presented when the App Store launches.

All rumors point to the latter being a radical redesign of the device—one that includes and edge-to-edge screen with very thin bezels, which would mean the home button, a fundamental of iPhone design since the first model debuted in 2007, is going away.

PS4 games will soon be available on iPhone and Android smartphones

I’m old enough to remember the first Sony Playstation, and truthfully, I freak out a bit when people tell me their first console was the PS2 or PS3.

Those people actually consider the PS1 “retro”, which means I’m just old. But those people also missed out on some truly incredible Sony games (for that day and age, anyway).

Those games included the PS1 versions Gran Turismo 2, Tekken 3, Metal Gear Solid, and more.

Of course those gamers who can list the PS2 and PS3 and their first console are quickly aging too. After all, it’s entirely likely that most people in today’s generation will have their first video game experience on a smartphone. Perhaps that’s why it’s so cool to hear the news that Sony has created a gaming division specifically designed to bring its Playstation titles to iOS and Android.

Generation Smartphone will soon be able to experience the “retro” games many of us reading this grew up with. Here’s everything you need to know.

The next iPhone could have a bigger display and more battery

While the iPhone 8 isn’t going to be announced until September, this week has been packed with rumors on the upcoming device. And it looks like the display is going to be the main star of the show.
Rumor has it that Apple is going to announce three new devices — two new versions of the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus, and a new high-end device that could cost more than $1,000. And it looks like the rumors around the display are for this mysterious “iPhone Pro” model.

iOS cracking tools reportedly used by FBI released to public

Last year, the FBI ordered Apple to help crack the iPhone 5c owned by Syed Farook, one of the shooters in the 2015 attacks in San Bernardino. Apple refused, and the FBI reportedly worked with Cellebrite, an Israeli firm that specializes in mobile security. According to a statement from Celelbrite last month, a hacker breached one of its legacy servers. Now the hacker has released some of that data as a warning to the FBI. The data released includes code that seems to relate to Cellebrite's Universal Forensic Extraction Device (UFED), and can allegedly crack older iPhones like the 5c as well as Android and Blackberry devices. Speaking anonymously to Motherboardthe hacker explained that simply creating these tools makes their release inevitable, where they can be used by anyone with technical knowledge, including oppressive regimes around the world. "It's important to demonstrate that when you create these tools, they will make it out. History should make that clear,"…

Apple’s iOS code indicates Li-Fi wireless data may work on future iPhones

Li-Fiis a concept you may not be familiar with, but there are indications Apple is toying with it for inclusion on future iPhones.Using pulses of light to transmit information, Li-Fi receivers (like a future iPhone, if Apple has its way) will take in that transmission, then translate it into an electric signal. Because it uses light to send data, Li-Fi may be found in the connected home via accessories like lightbulbs.
Li-Fi testing is already imminent. May appear in the next iPhone 7 according to iOS code in iOS 9.1 firmware. pic.twitter.com/MPK65QwLvp — Chase Fromm (@kyoufujibaya) December 31, 2015

Apple’s work with Li-Fi compatibility has been spotted in code for iOS 9.1, which simply notes Li-Fi capabilities. There’s no indication elsewhere that Apple is working with Li-Fi. But, there’s indication Apple has had Li-Fi in mind for a while. AppleInsider points to a 2013 patent application for a device that sounds an awful lot like a Li-Fi transmitter. Apple has thought that two rear cameras on the iPhone

one of the biggest strengths of the iPhone has long been his camera, and a new patent application from Apple shows how it could be improved still further in the future. The application first discovered by patently Apple, is obviously for a dual system of the camera on the back of your smartphone. Also as a zoom system, there are more than just switching from one to the other to take photos. The patent application proposes a could be used to generate still images, while the other …
