11 reasons I'm buying an Apple iPhone 11 Pro instead of a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Plus Factory Unlocked Cell Phone with 512GB (U.S. Warranty), Aura Black/ Note10+ As a cross platform smartphone user and mobile phone reviewer, I look for the device that fills my needs best whether it runs iOS or Android. While I'm a fan and regular user of the S Pen, this year the iPhone 11 Pro gets the nod. Millions use either Android or iOS, and both platforms offer much of the same functionality with a slightly different approach. Neither is the best for everyone, and as a reviewer, I enjoy testing out the latest and greatest. However, I also make device purchases regularly, and this year I'm skipping a favorite while also committing to an old friend. When the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 , see my review, was released in 2013, I was impressed with the S Pen and have had all of the Note models since then. I bought the Galaxy Note 9 last year, but I'm skipping the Note 10 Plus even though I am eligible to upgrade with the Samsung Upgrade Progr

Making phone calls using Your Phone on Windows 10 [video]

Microsoft nailed down a partnership with Samsung to bring calling functionality to the Your Phone app with the Galaxy Note 10 , but the feature should soon also be available to all Android devices. Twitter user Ajith confirmed that the Your Phone app with calls and dialer support is working with his Realme 3 Pro phone. The screenshots indicate that the Windows 10 app's settings page will allow users to toggle on the ability to "allow this app to make and manage calls from my phone". At the Galaxy Note 10 launch last month, Samsung and Microsoft said Note 10 users would be able to use the Phone screen feature to mirror their phone screens on their Windows 10 PCs and use their PC keyboards, mouse, and touchscreens to interact directly with their phone apps.

Google Pixel 4 leak: astrophotography mode is coming!

You’ll be able to capture ‘even the stars,’ says Google in a leaked marketing video. The Pixel 4 may allow photography enthusiasts to do something they've never been able to do before with a smartphone camera: astrophotography. A seemingly official marketing video uploaded by Pro Android shows Google's newest smartphone will feature a dedicated mode for taking photos of the night sky. Unfortunately, the ad provides few details about how the new functionality will work other than to promise you'll be able to capture "even the stars." Based on the "hold still" prompt shown in the video, the one detail we can glean is that you won't need a tripod to use to take advantage of the feature.

Uninstall These 24 Android Apps Infected with New 'Joker' Malware

Another day, another batch of Android apps that made it into the Google Play Store—accumulating hundreds of thousands of downloads—with some sneaky malware embedded in their code. This time around, the malware is called “Joker.” As Aleksejs Kuprins writes over at the cybersecurity company CSIS, this particular malware is designed to silently sign users up for subscription services, something they might not even notice they did unless they’re diligent in checking their monthly credit card statements. He describes: “For example, in Denmark, Joker can silently sign the victim up for a 50 DKK/week service (roughly ~6,71 EUR). This strategy works by automating the necessary interaction with the premium offer’s webpage, entering the operator’s offer code, then waiting for a SMS message with a confirmation code and extracting it using regular expressions. Finally, the Joker submits the extracted code to the offer’s webpage, in order to authorize the premium subscription.”

Google collects face data now. Here's what it means and how to opt out

Google's new Face Match technology isn't everywhere yet, but it's always looking. Find out what's happening with your face data and what you can do stop it. Google's latest smart display brings with it a controversial new feature that's always watching. Face Match, introduced on the Google Nest Hub Max, uses the smart display's front-facing camera as a security feature and a way to participate in video calls. It also shows you your photos, texts, calendar details and so on when it recognizes your face. This mode of facial recognition sounds simple enough at first. But the way companies like Google collect, store and process face data has become a top concern for privacy-minded consumers. Plenty of people want to know who has their personal information once it makes its way into the cloud. Here's a look at how Google and other tech companies record, save, process and use facial recognition data collected by devices such as the Nest Hub Max, as w

Why Apple will probably announce the iPhone 11 on Sept. 10

announce the iPhone 11 We were correct: Apple will unveil the iPhone 11 on Sept. 10. On Thursday, Aug. 29 Apple finally sent out invites for its iPhone 11 launch event. We were right! The iPhone 11 will launch on Sept. 10 in Cupertino. What follows is our original prediction piece below. Though Apple hasn't set out invitations to any iPhone events yet, the tech giant needs to whip up something exciting if it wants to get users hyped about the next iPhone 11, 11R and 11 Max (or whatever they'll be called). With iPhone sales falling 12% in the fiscal third quarter, profits expected to dip to $9.6 billion and more people trading in their iPhones for Androids, Apple needs to make sure its new flagship phones are compelling enough to draw new customers or keep current customers updated. Not to mention, its main rival Samsung took the wraps off its Note 10, Note 10 Plus and Note 10 5G on Aug. 7, and the phones are looking pretty great so far.
