iPhone Feature Request: Copy ‘Skip Lock Screen’ feature from Google’s Pixel 4

Face Unlock on Google’s Pixel 4 is less secure than the iPhone’s Face ID, but it does have one feature I’d like to see Apple copy: Skip Lock Screen.

Copying that would be perfectly fair, as Google has recently confirmed that it will be copying at least part of Face ID’s Require Attention feature…

The Pixel 4 will copy Require AttentionLike Apple’s iPhone X, XS, and 11, Google’s new flagship Pixel 4 smartphone can unlock by recognizing your face. However, the company quickly came under fire when it was revealed that the device can be unlocked even when the owner is asleep, simply by someone else holding it up to their face.

With iPhones, there is a Requires Attention toggle. When this is on, your iPhone will only unlock if your eyes are open and you are actually looking at the screen. Google has now said that it plans to copy at least the first part of this requirement.

Google this evening confirmed to The Verge that it’s “been working on an option for users to require their eyes to be ope…

11 reasons I'm buying an Apple iPhone 11 Pro instead of a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Plus Factory Unlocked Cell Phone with 512GB (U.S. Warranty), Aura Black/ Note10+

As a cross platform smartphone user and mobile phone reviewer, I look for the device that fills my needs best whether it runs iOS or Android. While I'm a fan and regular user of the S Pen, this year the iPhone 11 Pro gets the nod.

Millions use either Android or iOS, and both platforms offer much of the same functionality with a slightly different approach. Neither is the best for everyone, and as a reviewer, I enjoy testing out the latest and greatest. However, I also make device purchases regularly, and this year I'm skipping a favorite while also committing to an old friend.

When the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, see my review, was released in 2013, I was impressed with the S Pen and have had all of the Note models since then. I bought the Galaxy Note 9 last year, but I'm skipping the Note 10 Plus even though I am eligible to upgrade with the Samsung Upgrade Program.

iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Design, Camera, Specs and Pricing

Today, Apple has unveiled a new set of phones, including the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. These new devices are powered by a new chip, sport new cameras and are available in a variety of finishes and sizes.

So without any further ado, let’s get into some of the details.

Why Apple will probably announce the iPhone 11 on Sept. 10

We were correct: Apple will unveil the iPhone 11 on Sept. 10.
On Thursday, Aug. 29 Apple finally sent out invites for its iPhone 11 launch event. We were right! The iPhone 11 will launch on Sept. 10 in Cupertino. What follows is our original prediction piece below.
Though Apple hasn't set out invitations to any iPhone events yet, the tech giant needs to whip up something exciting if it wants to get users hyped about the next iPhone 11, 11R and 11 Max (or whatever they'll be called). With iPhone sales falling 12% in the fiscal third quarter, profits expected to dip to $9.6 billion and more people trading in their iPhones for Androids, Apple needs to make sure its new flagship phones are compelling enough to draw new customers or keep current customers updated. Not to mention, its main rival Samsung took the wraps off its Note 10, Note 10 Plus and Note 10 5G on Aug. 7, and the phones are looking pretty great so far.
