Everything you need to know about Rocksteady's Suicide Squad game

This looks like a hell of a lot of fun and we can't wait to play it.

Superhero video games can be hit or miss. You can get amazing titles like the Batman: Arkham series and Insomniac's Spider-Man, easily one of the best PS5 games you can play at the moment, or you can get something like Marvel's Avengers. Hopefully, given Rocksteady's track record, Suicide Squad will fall into the former category.

The Suicide Squad is making the jump onto consoles with Batman: Arkham developer Rocksteady at the helm. DC has only revealed a 4-minute teaser trailer to whet our appetites, but that was more than enough to get us excited for this upcoming game, even if we'll be waiting until at least 2022 to get out hands on it. Here's everything we know so far about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

What is the Suicide Squad?

The Suicide Squad are a bunch of DC supervillains that have appeared over the years in numerous comic series. While various iterations have existed throughout this time, the team is usually depicted as a group of supervillains forced to work for the government in exchange for commuted sentences. In order to ensure their cooperation, members were outfitted with bombs that would be set off if they disobeyed orders. The Suicide Squad falls under the leadership of Amanda Waller.

Dozens of villains have been members of the squad at one time or another, with notable names including Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Rick Flag Jr., King Shark, Deathstroke, Black Manta, and many more. Rocksteady's game will feature Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang from what we've seen so far.

Suicide Squad What's the gameplay like?

Rocksteady hasn't shown off any gameplay from Suicide Squad yet, but you can probably expect it to be similar to the Batman: Arkham series. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League supports 4-player co-op but can also be played solo. If you're playing alone, the rest of the squad will be controlled by AI.

Suicide Squad What's the story?

Set in the same universe as the Batman: Arkham series, Suicide Squad follows Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang under orders to take out the "Alpha Target" in Metropolis, under siege by Braniac's forces. As it turns out, this Alpha Target appears to be Superman being controlled by Braniac.

Rocksteady is likely creating an original story inspired by the comics in this case. There was a comic run in 2016 that saw the Justice League attempt to eliminate the Suicide Squad after they discovered their existence.

Suicide Squad Do I need to watch the movie to play the game?

No. Just don't. Love yourself and pretend the movie doesn't exist.

Suicide Squad Is it coming to Xbox Series X, PC, and PS5?

Yes. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was announced for PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. It does not appear that it will ship to last-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One.

Suicide Squad When does it release?

We'll still need to wait another year before we can get our hands on Suicide Squad. Rocksteady revealed that it isn't set to release until 2022, and who knows if it will be delayed before then. A lot of games have been delayed recently due to the ongoing pandemic, and these delays will only start to pick up as time goes on.

The hidden cost of food delivery

There are dozens of great dining options within a few blocks of my home, yet I still end up ordering food through delivery apps four or five times per week. With the growing coronavirus pandemic closing restaurants and consumers self-isolating, it is likely we will see a spike in food delivery much like the 20% jump China reported during the peak of its crisis. With the food delivery sector rocketing toward a projected $365 billion by the end of the decade, I’m clearly not the only one turning to delivery apps even before the pandemic hit. Thanks to technology (and VC funding) we can get a ri

Slack’s new integration deal with AWS could also be about tweaking Microsoft

Slack and Amazon announced a big integration late yesterday afternoon. As part of the deal, Slack will use Amazon Chime for its call feature, while reiterating its commitment to use AWS as its preferred cloud provider to run its infrastructure. At the same time, AWS has agreed to use Slack for internal communications. Make no mistake, this is a big deal as the SaaS communications tool increases its ties with AWS, but this agreement could also be about slighting Microsoft and its rival Teams product by making a deal with a cloud rival. In the past Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield has had choice words for Microsoft saying the Redmond technology giant sees his company as an “existential threat.” Whether that’s true or not — Teams is but one piece of a huge technology company — it’s impossible not to look at the deal in this context. Aligning more deeply with AWS sends a message to Microsoft, whose Azure infrastructure services compete with AWS. Butterfield didn’t say that of course
